After the fairly successful port of Froyo to the Pulse, I've decide to try porting CyanogenMod 6. If this is successful I hope it can one day be included into the official CyanogenMod releases.

CM6 is built on Froyo, but adds many extra features. For many of the bugs we are experiencing in Froyo, we have been looking at how they were fixed in CM6. So rather than port the fixes to Froyo, why not port all of CM6 to the Pulse.

There are still a lot of issues, so use it at your own risk, and don't complain if a feature you feel is important doesn't work.

It is too big to fit on the 1.5 system partition, so you must update to a 2.1 official rom before installing this.
Google apps is not included and must be installed seperately.

Current rom: beta-0.40
GApps signed zip: gapps-pulse-20101020-signed.zip <-- install from recovery

Improved arabic support for browser: arabic-browser-signed.zip

The rom is provided as images that must be flashed with fastboot. I tried to build it as an ota update, but its doesn't include the /data partition and there is a file on /data that is required for the first boot. I will try to fix this in a future release.

Thanks to Flibblesan for providing hosting.

Known Bugs
Wifi MAC is incorrect
Camera app fails if you take multiple photos. Other camera apps work. Get something from the market.
Manual network selection returns all networks, but should only return those available to the user.

Change log

0.40 - 1st December 2010 Link
Gallery rotation problem fixed.
Updated source.

0.30 - 22nd October 2010 Link
Added cpu related settingsq (scaling_governor etc) to init. This will hopefully improve battery life (but I doubt it will do much).
Added swap and compcache support. Compcache is used in the rom, but there is no backing swap file.
Changed default permissions of netcfg to 6750. This is an ugly fix to the permissions problem, but it works. The build systems otapackage option will now build fully working roms (no more fastboot).
Bluetooth fixed.
Manual network selection now working (see known bugs).
Fixed asec/device-mapper issue. Froyo's builtin apps 2 sd now works. Use CyanogenMod settings to set all apps to run off sd card.

0.20 - 10th October 2010 Link
Updated to latest source from git. Now based on Android 2.2.1 (FRG83)
GPS problem fixed.
WPA driver fix - Signal strength, Link speed & AP MAC.
Sensors fixed.
Lights fixed.
Camera working.

0.10 Link
Reboots if GPS is turned off then back on.
No bluetooth
Wifi MAC is incorrect
Wifi returns garbage for signal strength, link speed and AP address.
Sensors don't work (so auto-rotation won't work).
Camera doesn't work.
Manual network selection doesn't work.

Instructions
These instruction are only for release 0.3 and later. For earlier releases you must use fastboot.

1. Install Clockwork recovery image if you haven't already. Clockwork (AmonRA's recovery will not work).
2. Download both the rom zip file and the gapps zip file.
3. Copy both zip files to your sd card. This can be done my removing the sd card and putting it into a pc, or mounting it while it is in the phone, or using 'adb push <file> /sdcard/'.
4. Reboot into recovery.
5. Make a nandroid backup so you can revert if necessary.
6. Install first the rom using the install update from sd card option.
8. Next install GApps the same way.
9. If you were not previously using a CyanogenMod rom you MUST wipe /data/.
10. Reboot.

Should we tell Cyanogen? Or just leave him?
I want to know if we can use Cyanogen mods now. Like the lock screens and CM themes.... :)

Does flashing data through fastboot do anything to my apps on the SD card?

It won't effect SD.

I haven't contact Cyanogen yet. I guess I should.

Maybe we could get a forum on CyanogenMod just for the Pulse!

How is this rom better than Flibs 2.2 upload? That had rotation and wifi fix?

Have problem with Windows - reboot...
Have problem with Linux - be root!

Geeks, heres something truly remarkable... http://www.informationisbeautiful.net

The Cyanogenmod will end up being better due to the large community behind it. And sadly the WiFi in FLB 2.0 wasn't completely fixed.

Video works.

CyanogenMod has a lot of customisations.

Wifi does work in this its just has a couple of problems. I know how to fix the problems I just haven't yet (and the FLB rom also has the MAC problem).
The major things missing from this that are in the FLB rom (and my other froyo roms) are bluetooth and sensors. Hopefully those can be fixed shortly.

I see, makes sense then to use CM6. If only we could get the camera working then it'd be perfect!! What sort of customisations does cyanogen offer, performance improvements or just cosmetic stuff?

Next job would be to get the MIUI into it :) - that looks brilliant!

Ogiogi's Espresso Mod doesn't work. Cause boot loop.
