Hi All,

It seems like there isn't currently a lot of choice regarding cases for the desire. Can anyone make any reccommendations?

Most iphone or nexus one cases work well as they are all pretty much the same dimensions. I'm using a beyzacases vintage tan iphone case and it fits perfectly. www.gadgetgear.co.uk/iphone-3g-leather-case-vintage-plus-bessie.html

I bought this one from Amazon and highly recommend it. It doesn't look like the picture ie. it's not black but grey and doesn't have black rubber stripe across the back.

I've just ordered this one

mobilefun.co.uk/alu-leather-case-htc-desire-google-nexus-one-p23580.htm

It's out of stock at the moment but I emailed them and they said they're expecting 'soon' there are plenty of other cases on the site though. Hope this helps :P

Though HTC claims that their PO-C310 case is not compatible with Desire, yet the phone perfectly fits in it. I've bought this case for my Hero, and now happily using with Desire.

I'm looking forward as Brando releases its "Dots Pattern Soft Plastic Case" for the Desire, I had one for my former Hero and it was great. Thin, sturdy, almost invisible once installed, cheap.

Pictured below is the Hero one:

Has anyone tried the ADVERTISING SPAM or Proporta leather cases?
As I don't want to use a screen protector I want the best protection for the Desire.
It does need to be functional too.

Thanks,
Shofar1

You should give a try to Brando's UltraClear screen protector: once installed you cannot even guess there's one on the display and the touch responsiveness isnt' altered at all. Moreover, years after installing it doesn't change at all.
A trick: install it in your bathroom, not wearing any clothes that can disperse fibers, with carefully washed hands, after having the hot water flowing for a minute or two (allow a little vapor fog): this will bring the dust to the floor allowing you to do a one-shot, perfectly clean installation.

Here's for the Desire.

:P

P.S.: I'm not affiliated with Brando Workshop: aside for the tons of crapgadgets it produces, these two items are very, VERY well ingegnerized. :D

I've just ordered a Piel Frama for my Desire.
Protection is everything to me.
Pricey but they're good cases - got one for my Omnia and still looks like new after 1 year.

Looks good and as I said I have one for my Palm T5 for many years - Doesn't look new anymore but to torn threads, still a great case.
But it is close to 3X the cost of ProPorta or other quality leather cases.
Is it that much better?

got one question:

all these skins and silicone-cases...has anyone experience what happens if dirt gets between case and desire?

i remember an old nokia 6230 which had bad scratches all over...all from the dust "in between"

Even though I am not fan of screen protectors I've ordered one from Zagg (invisible shield) and I must admit it's amazing. It's barely noticeable and does not affect screen's sensitivity :P

That looks like a more expensive version of a case I got from them (Mobile Fun). The problem is it uses a magnet to hold itself closed, which interferes with the compass in the phone, meaning you can't use Google Maps, Wikitude, Layar, Sky etc without taking the phone out of the case, which is just stupid. I got my money back but they don't seem to want to refund my postage, despite me making clear in my emails/letter that it's their responsibility to refund return postage if an item is faulty (`not fit for purpose` is how the Sale Of Goods Act puts it).

Update: I got my postage refunded subsequently.

I returned my invisishield as the screen became rough to touch (well not rough but no longer had that flowing smoothness as you swiped your finger across it). Slight orange peel effect bugged me as well. I had higher expectations.
