Hello,

I am succeed to update recovery image to version 1.6.2. But in the Recovery screen, I got the message:

*****************************
Build: RA-hero-v1.6.2
E: Can't read MISC:
(No sapce left on device)
E: Can't read MISC:
(No sapce left on device)
E: Can't read MISC:
(No sapce left on device)
*****************************

Are there anything wrong?

Try this thread from xda. From what I recall when this came up previously, there was a bug in the old nandroid backup code which could lead to some sort of corruption of misc. Iirc the solution was to flash a copy of misc from before then. If necessary, one can lift a usable copy from a suitable stock ROM. E&OE.

It dosen't work on newer heros, use www.roothtchero.co.uk

Sounds like you can't load the recovery img yet just like the new t-mobile Rom over here in the u.k.

So, I have the same problem - is there a solution? I am desperate to root my G2, so that I can tether my wi-fi... Please help!!!

Just Install an official HTC RUU(ROM Upgrade Utility), Download it from HTC Support

Hi,

Is it possible to use this method to install a custom recovery on a hero which already has an older version of a custom recovery ?

My hero has a recovery which reads ClockWorkMod recovery v2.0.1.3 and the reason I want to change it is that its very bad at restoring backups. It will not restore a backup created within itself and throw up an error "MD5 mismatch". Although the backup is made with the same recovery nandroid in the same sd card.

I have also tried downgrading the ROM using RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe without and with using a goldcard but still in both cases it gave me a signature error.

I currently have a stock rom 2.73.405.66 and am trying this on a win7 pc.

BTW I also tried simply flashing a 2.73.405.5 rom directly but it doesn't work (with a wipe). gives me the following error -

E:Can't symlink /system/bin/bugreport
E:Failure at line 4:
symlink dumpstate SYSTEM:bin/bugreport
Installation aborted.

Anyway, I would just appreciate if anyone can tel em if I can use the method stated in this thread to just flash a new recovery on my hero the way it is now.

Thanks,

Sean.

Hi guys.

This method seems to be the only way that works for me. I don't know why. Can anyone re-upload the file on the first page please. Thanks

GSM Hero (a Hero with a SIM card - e.g. the European Hero) on WINDOWS

adb-windows shell reboot bootloader (wait for device to reboot into bootloader)
fastboot-windows boot recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.img (wait for device to boot into recovery)
install-recovery-gsm-windows.bat

Thank you for the clarity and simplicity of this post. After hours of bending my head around the process needed to get my Hero out of Cupcake and into Eclair (at least), this set me on my way sweetly. I'm finally rocking something that the Android Market can see, at least.

You rock.
