Excellent review - the long wait was well worth it! :)

Keep up the good work...

...has anyone noticed that the clever little messaging app does not hook up to Jeyo's Outlook plugin???

Bizarre!

Cheers

That figures, as it uses it's own SMS store and not the regular WinMo one.

Shame that!

Good review Paul !

All fair points but one thing to note is that the device does charge over the sync cable - albeit very v-e-r-y slowly....

One other negative I have to chip in with is that the handsfree kit has possibly the worst audio I have ever heard - it makes the HTC ones look positively bass heavy

Still a cracking device tho if it fits what you want from your phone

Another good review. Only the one spelling mistake I can see :)

Errr. Who makes this for Palm? Is it not HTC anymore?!

Whether the Treo 750v is the device for your depends massively on what you want from a device.

I am far from being an expert in Smartphones - though I happen to be addicted to them.

I love my Treo 750 with one MAJOR problem. The battery life is appalling. Indeed I have to charge every afternoon to prevent the thing from dyiong completely. Maybe I have done something incredibly stupid to make this happen. But as things are I have been forced to retreat back to my Nokia E61. Which isn't bad at all and has a brilliant (compared to the Treo 750) battery life.

Has anyone any siuggestions as to why I am having this problem?

I also love Smartphones/PDAs and have lost count of the different devices I have owned. But there is always a price to pay (on top of the financial one). Unfortunately Smartphones feel a little bit limited in terms of software and traditionally Pocket PCs were a little on the large size but I have still found myself switching between the two over the years, each time yearning for what the other has to offer.

In the last couple of months i've owned a Sony Ericsson M600i and a Samsung SGH i320. Both nice phones but lacking that certain something extra.

This week I was at Lakeside and popped into the Vodafone store. At last you can actually play with the REAL phone and not a dummy that is falling apart. I had seen the Treo 750v before but dismissed it initially as I remembered the poor experience of the original Handspring Treo I owned. But as soon as I picked it up and started playing with it I was hooked.

Yes its only 240 x240 and yes it only has a 1.3Mp Camera and no Wifi BUT it has that something special about it which made me order it straight away.

I've had my 750v for about a week now and it's my first Pocket PC based device. I have to say that I love it, the omission of wi-fi and the average camera are not major issues for me. My battery life is acceptable - I tend to charge it most nights but could get away with 2 days with fairly light use (if only I could stop playing with it!)

But it will never completely replace my Qtek 8500 because it's just too bulky to sit comfortably in my jeans pocket - OK I know it's not really meant to be that portable, but a few mm off the width would have made all the difference.

...do you have the automatic keyguard and password activated? When I turned this on, I had significant battery drain and the unit was always warm...when I turned this off, battery life went back to normal...

...hope this helps...

Cheers
Nick

Thanks a lot for the tip. I'll turn the key-guard off and see if that helps.

I now know what these Forums are for!
You get some good advice on them from people who know a lot more than I do!
