I thought the missing phonepad would be a problem (as an ex-prophet user) but I have been using the sliding keyboard so much, I haven't really noticed it isnt there (or even thought about trying to load one up from my prophet).

The boot up time is a revelation! I never turned my prophet off (as I was fed up with waiting for it to boot) but have turned the M3100 off twice (in 24 hours).

The devices responsiveness is very good and the battery seems to be lasting as well as my prophet with similar usage.

The headset using the USB port would be an issue - but I await a splitter - and at least the m3100 wont suffer from the HTC headset socket switch problem!

Im not sure the samples do the camera justice - this is by far the best camera I have seen on a HTC device, and very nearly on a par with the excellent SE autofocus cameras

You won't be disappointed, it's an awesome device.

I now sit here however with the M3100 and the TyTN and wonder if despite the fact that the M3100 is the pretty sister, the TyTN is the one that you would rather live with ;)

Hmm, wonder if that's an analogy too far :)

Much as I love the JAMin, I've literally just put it back in it's box to use a Hermes.

TyTN or M3100? Undecided :)

Looks awesome, however, I don't like the idea of it actually getting that warm... a pda should, literally, be cool :)

  • Interests:The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

Numeric benchmarks would be cool.

Do you have SPB benchmark? It can give exact representations about:
- Processor speed
- Memory Bus speed
- Screen and graphics speed
- Battery lifetime

Numbers would say a lot more and be a lot better then usual phrases (prone to subjective treatment).

These have already been posted on Modaco in a link to another website. IIRC they weren't that impressive, to be honest, certainly on the processor side.

I've seen processor ones. But who knows, maybe they didnt do it right or did it on pre-release model - confirmation from reliable source (Paul :) ) will be good.

Also, there was no battery benchmark done in these ones.

Trust me to forget to take pictures with the slider open :), i'll take some later ;)

Benchmark wise, I have benchmarked the device with Muff's benchmarker, and will post some comparisons soon.

Hey all. First post here, so i thought i'd start by saying great site.

My spv m3100 is coming on Tuesday and i really can't wait to get my hands on it. Not used this kind of phone before so really looking forward to having such a powerful device in my pocket.

The one thing most people comment on with this phone is the lack of phone pad. Having never used it before i know i won't miss it as such, but is there and would it be worth getting a replacement for it? Having a number pad on screen when wanting to make a call just seems like common sense to me, and i'm interested to know how easy it is without one. Is there a program out there that will replace this missing element. I know on your free stuff thread you put a link to Tengo, Paul. It seems to just be predictive text though, which i'm not too fussed about now i have a qwerty keybaord included, but does tengo give a large 'number pad' for dialing numbers?

Also wondered how easy it was to connect this to a WiFi network and how good it was when connected? Any advice from people who have experience of these devices would be great.

Really can't wait till Tuesday to have a go myself.
